Iran has introduced the invention of a giant deposit of lithium, a key part of batteries for electrical automobiles and digital units, state media reported.

“For the first time in Iran, a lithium reserve has been discovered in Hamedan”, within the west of the nation, state tv quoted Mohammad Hadi Ahmadi, an official with the ministry of business, mines and commerce, on Saturday.

This reserve is believed to carry “8.5 million tonnes” of lithium, in response to the director-general of the ministry’s working division.
