At least 11 individuals have died within the Indonesian area of Natuna on Monday after a landslide buried homes amid heavy rainfall, the nation’s catastrophe mitigation company stated.

Abdul Muhari, a catastrophe official, advised news channel Kompas TV 11 individuals had died and 50 are estimated to be lacking.

Junainah, a catastrophe official in Riau Islands province, stated the variety of fatalities might rise and that communications within the space had been severed.

“The weather is changing. The wind is still blowing hard. The tidal waves are high,” stated Junainah, who goes by one identify.

The company stated survivors had been being evacuated from the Searasan area, whereas a search and rescue staff had been dispatched to the realm.

In photographs shared by the company, roofs and timber had been seen strewn on the mud-filled floor in heavy rain.

The affected space was on a distant island that was a five-hour boat journey from the capital of Natuna, Indonesia’s search and rescue company stated.
