Legal rights of quake survivors in Türkiye protected by decree

The Presidential Decree on the safety of the rights of people that have modified their place of residence because of the earthquakes throughout the scope of the state of emergency (OHAL) was printed in Türkiye’s Official Gazette Friday.

Regulations pertaining to the safety of the rights of individuals who relocated on account of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes was made and signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Accordingly, in locations which are thought-about catastrophe areas affecting normal life because of the earthquakes that occurred on Feb. 6, if the residents have modified their place of residence as of this date, the rights granted to them in accordance with the legal guidelines, different laws and administrative acts because of the earthquake, is not going to be misplaced.

At least 46,104 individuals misplaced their lives within the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazığ following the pair of devastating earthquakes final month. A 3-month state of emergency has been declared within the 10 provinces hit worst by earthquakes as of Feb. 7, 2023.

According to the authorities, round 3.32 million earthquake survivors have been evacuated from the area to different provinces.
