Moscow might search compensation over harm from final 12 months’s explosions on the Nord Stream fuel pipelines, news company RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a Russian diplomat.
The pipelines, which join Russia and Germany beneath the Baltic Sea, had been hit by unexplained blasts final September in what Moscow known as an act of “international terrorism”.
“We do not rule out later the raising of the issue of compensation for damage as a result of the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines,” Dmitry Birichevsky, the pinnacle of Russia’s Foreign Ministry division for financial cooperation, mentioned in an interview with the news company.
He added that Western nations had been opposing a Russia-prepared draft U.N. Security Council decision urging an impartial worldwide investigation of the Nord Stream blasts.
“Despite this, we intend to continue to insist on a comprehensive and open international investigation with the mandatory participation of Russian representatives,” Birichevsky mentioned.
