Two US Army Blackhawk helicopters have crashed in Kentucky throughout a coaching mission, officers stated.
“The status of the crew members are unknown at this time,” military base Fort Campbell stated in a press release early on Thursday.
“The command is currently focused on caring for the servicemembers and their families.”
The helicopters, from the a hundred and first Airborne Division, crashed at round 02:00 GMT on Thursday in Kentucky’s Trigg county, northwest of Fort Campbell.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear stated fatalities have been anticipated.
“We’ve got some tough news out of Fort Campbell, with early reports of a helicopter crash and fatalities are expected,” he stated on Twitter.
He stated Kentucky police and emergency administration have been responding and requested everybody to “please pray for all those affected” in a Tweet.
Fort Campbell stated the incident was below investigation and that “more information will be released as it becomes available.”
