Palestine calls on UNESCO to stop Israeli settlement at ancient site

Palestinian authorities urged the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to step in to stop Israel’s settlement mission within the archaeological web site of Sebastia within the occupied West Bank.

“We call on the UNESCO agency to prevent the (Israeli) occupation authorities from establishing a settlement project near the Sebastia village (north of Nablus city),” Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh stated throughout a cupboard assembly.

He warned that the Israeli settlement mission will trigger heavy injury to the historic web site close to the village.

Sebastia Mayor Mohammad Azem stated the Israeli mission goals to show the archaeological web site right into a park.

“The project includes building a road, carrying out digging works and establishing electricity networks that will totally change the historical character of the area,” he instructed Anadolu.

Sebastia web site is an historic and historic web site that dates again to the Hellenistic and Roman eras.
