UN help chief Martin Grifftihs is touring to Türkiye as a high-level assembly with Ankara, Russia, Ukraine and the UN is scheduled May 10 – 11 in Istanbul to debate the Black Sea grain deal.

UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq advised reporters Tuesday that Grifftihs left Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for Istanbul.

”We do anticipate some high-level assembly to occur this week,” he mentioned.

The Turkish National Defense Ministry introduced Tuesday that Türkiye, Russia, Ukraine and the UN will maintain talks on the Black Sea grain deal in Istanbul on May 10-11 because the Russian deadline nears.

The deal is about to run out May 18.

Russia needs obstacles to exports of its fertilizer to be eliminated for it to agree to a different extension of the grain deal which was signed in Istanbul final July among the many 4 events.

Meanwhile, inspections of vessels resumed Tuesday of outbound vessels, mentioned Haq.

”There have been at the very least two inspections carried out thus far at the moment,” he added.
