Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan over the cellphone on Wednesday. During the dialog, President Erdoğan congratulated Aliyev on his victory within the presidential election.
Erdoğan expressed his want that Aliyev’s re-election as president can be auspicious for Azerbaijan.
Aliyev has acquired over 93% of the vote in early presidential election held on Wednesday, in line with exit polls. His closest competitor, impartial candidate Zahid Oruj, acquired a mere 1.8%.
About 6.5 million folks have been eligible to vote, together with residents primarily based overseas.
The final presidential election, which is held each seven years in Azerbaijan, befell on April 11, 2018. A decree signed by Aliyev late final 12 months moved the vote ahead from its date of October 2025.
