Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arrives in South Africa on the primary leg of his go to geared toward enhancing cooperation with African nations, which is among the cornerstones of Ankara’s multi-dimensional overseas coverage.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has begun his five-nation Africa tour, beginning with South Africa.
“We started our South African contacts by visiting the Nurul Hamidiye Mosque, named after Sultan Abdulhamid II, in Cape Town, whose restoration works were undertaken by TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency). In cooperation with all our institutions, we protect our cultural heritage all over the world!” Cavusoglu stated on Twitter on Sunday.
Later, Cavusoglu visited Tana Baru Cemetery, the place the tomb of Ottoman Muslim scholar Abu Bakr Effendi is positioned.
Addressing the Turkish residents in Cape Town, Cavusoglu stated: “Thanks to you, Türkiye-South Africa relations are progressing on solid foundations and the purpose of my visit is to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.”
On Monday, Cavusoglu will formally inaugurate the Turkish Consulate General in Cape Town and can maintain official conferences in Pretoria on Tuesday.

The minister stated whereas opening a consulate common, Türkiye will defend the heritage of its ancestors and attempt to present one of the best service to its residents dwelling in Cape Town.
“On the other hand, we will work together to improve our relations with South Africa in the Cape Town region,” he added.
The minister stated he expects Turkish residents to maintain one another in South Africa, and proceed preventing terrorist organisations, together with the PKK, FETO, and Daesh.
Cavusoglu will even go to Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe.
