The nation’s annual inflation charge was at 8.6% within the final month of that yr, easing from 10% in November, Destatis reported.
In 2021, the annual common charge was at 3.1%.
“The historically high year-over-year inflation rate was mainly driven by the extreme price rises for energy products and food since war started in Ukraine,” mentioned Ruth Brand, the top of the statistical institute.
Destatis mentioned the costs of products had been up final yr by 13.5% from 2021, whereas non-durable shopper items rose 18% and sturdy shopper items 5.3%.
