Youth in Türkiye hand roses in churches to rebuff Quran burning in Sweden

A gaggle of younger folks in southeastern Türkiye distributed roses in church buildings in response to the burning of a replica of the Muslim holy guide, the Quran, by a Swedish-Danish politician in Stockholm.

Young folks within the central Artuklu district of Mardin province toured church buildings on Sunday with roses in hand, handing them out to church officers and condemning the burning of the Quran outdoors the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on Saturday.

One of the younger folks within the group was Ibrahim Halil Yetim, who recorded their efforts on video. 

He mentioned that, as younger Muslims, they thought of the way to react to the incident in Sweden and determined to comply with the recommendation of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad by visiting church buildings and expressing their reactions in a means befitting their faith.

“Islam is such a religion that it revives even those who come to kill you,” he mentioned.

Rasmus Paludan, chief of the Danish Stram Kurs (Hard Line), was granted permission by the Swedish authorities to burn the Quran outdoors the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.

In response to Sweden’s permission, Ankara has canceled Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson’s upcoming go to to Türkiye.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned Swedish Ambassador to Ankara Staffan Herrstrom, who was instructed that Türkiye “strongly condemns this provocative act, which is clearly a hate crime, that Sweden’s attitude is unacceptable, that Ankara expects the act not to be allowed, and insults to sacred values cannot be defended under the guise of democratic rights”.
