Ford plans to chop greater than a thousand jobs at its fundamental German plant in Cologne, German auto publication Automobilwoche has reported, citing unnamed sources.
The head of the works council has referred to as a gathering for all 14,000 workers of the Cologne plant, Ford’s largest in Germany, on Monday, the report stated on Friday.
Ford, which in keeping with its web site employs round 20,000 individuals in Germany, declined to touch upon the report however stated the transformation to electrical automobiles required “significant change” in the way in which it produces vehicles.
“We have no comment on the current speculation about a possible restructuring at Ford in Europe,” a spokesperson stated in a written assertion.
“The transformation [to an all-electric portfolio] requires significant change in the way we develop, build and sell Ford vehicles, and will impact our organizational structure, talent and skills we will need in the future.”
