Turkish Airlines has acquired the Airline Sustainability Innovation of the Year award by Centre for Aviation (CAPA) for its progressive efforts for sustainability.
According to a press release from the nationwide flag provider on Friday, the airline was honored for creating the Microalgae Based Sustainable Bio-Jet Fuel Project (MICRO-JET), by which it labored intently with scientists to develop the world’s first carbon detrimental sustainable aviation gasoline (SAF).
The MICRO-Jet challenge, carried out with Istanbul’s prestigious Boğaziçi University, aimed to provide biofuels from microalgae utilizing hydro-processed fatty acids and hydrothermal liquefaction strategies.
Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines chief funding and know-how officer, mentioned: “As the airline that flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, we appreciate the sustainable aviation fuel as a key element in our sustainability strategy on reducing aviation’s environmental impact.”
Konukcu added that the corporate is dedicated to proceed to take a position and help sustainable aviation fuels and concentrate on the way forward for the world.
