WHO: Equatorial Guinea confirms first-ever Marburg virus disease outbreak

Equatorial Guinea has confirmed its first-ever outbreak of Marburg virus illness following the deaths of not less than 9 individuals in Kie-Ntem province, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated on Monday.

“Further investigations are ongoing. Advance teams have been deployed in the affected districts to trace contacts, isolate and provide medical care to people showing symptoms of the disease,” the WHO stated in a press release.

It stated to this point 9 deaths and 16 suspected circumstances with signs together with fever, fatigue and blood-stained vomit and diarrhea have been reported.
