FIFA is investigating well-known Turkish chef Nusret Gokce’s entry to the pitch after the 2022 FIFA World Cup closing, British media reported on Thursday.
A spokesperson for FIFA advised Sky Sports that FIFA is investigating “how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on December 18.”
Nusret, also called “Salt Bae” by his well-known transfer to pour salt down his arm onto steak, entered the pitch after the World Cup closing match between Argentina and France, and tried to take selfies with Argentine gamers.
He even managed to the touch the World Cup trophy within the ceremony, whereas solely the World Cup winners and heads of state are allowed to the touch it as per FIFA guidelines.
His gatecrashing within the ceremony sparked controversy on social media.
