Polish high seed Iga Swiatek and males’s world No. 2 Novak Djokovic certified Wednesday for the third spherical of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, the third Grand Slam of the yr in tennis.
Swiatek beat her Spanish opponent Sara Sorribes Tormo with units of 6-2, 6-0 in a girls’s singles second spherical match in London.
Serbian celebrity Djokovic, who has gained Wimbledon seven instances, superior to the third spherical after beating Australia’s Jordan Thompson with units of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
The Greek fifth seed in males’s singles, Stefanos Tsitsipas, reserved his place within the second spherical.
Tsitsipas beat Austria’s Dominic Thiem with units of 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (10-8).
Meanwhile Tsitsipas’ compatriot Maria Sakkari, ranked eighth in girls’s singles, was eradicated from the 2023 Wimbledon after getting overwhelmed by Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk.
Sakkari gained the primary set 6-0, however Kostyuk got here again after profitable two units by 7-5, 6-2 to succeed in the second spherical in girls’s singles.
