The world-famous historic metropolis of Iznik, located on the jap shores of Lake Iznik in northwestern Türkiye, the capital of 4 civilizations and a contender for UNESCO’s preservation listing, continues to shock by unearthing historic artifacts.
Özkan Yılmaz, a farmer found cash and historic artifacts in his peach orchard. The artifacts are believed to belong to the 1,500-year-old Byzantine interval.
“Iznik has been the capital city of four civilizations and such historical pieces are proof that our land is full of historical treasures. I was digging for peaches here and came across a shining object with some small coins next to it. I was surprisingly happy and excited when I realized what these objects are,” stated Yılmaz.
The artifacts discovered within the orchard resemble a pill with a cross and figures of kids on them.
Yilmaz stated that he’ll ship the historic artifacts to the museum as they improve nationwide historical past, and believes it’s a ethical obligation to protect treasures.
