AFAD issues torrential rains, floods alerts in east, central Türkiye

In response to the relentless downpours and flooding which have gripped the japanese and central areas of the nation, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) issued orange and yellow alerts, signifying the dire scenario that has unfolded.

AFAD President Okay Memiş stated that the search-and-rescue operations are ongoing round the clock in flood-ravaged areas of Samsun and Aksaray.

He added: “We have coordinated search-and-rescue operations, led by the Aksaray Governorship, as AFAD. We have deployed a team of 150 individuals in collaboration with Aksaray Municipality, Special Provincial Administration, UMKE, gendarmerie and police units.”

While extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved households, AFAD disclosed that two residents met a tragic destiny in Nevşehir as they had been overcome by relentless floods, dropping their lives to the calamity.
