Armenians in Türkiye ask quake aid to be sent to needier areas

Turkish residents of Armenian origin dwelling in a village in Hatay province requested authorities to divert help despatched to them to needier areas, after receiving sufficient for themselves, a report stated Friday.

“There’s no point in hoarding, it’s better if it reaches those who need it. We have enough supplies for about a month right now,” he added.

Kartun stated he hopes Türkiye’s southernmost Hatay, also referred to as the “city of civilizations,” the place individuals from all nationalities reside in brotherhood, will return to its former glory as quickly as doable.

Explaining that locals keep within the coated space of ​​a restaurant within the village, Kartun stated: “We gathered all our friends there. They don’t eat or drink at home. We set up our own kitchen here, we cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner ourselves with the supplies from the donations.”

Ohannes Keskin, one other native, additionally expressed his gratitude to the village’s benefactors, calling the help given to Vakıflı “incredible.”
