Türkiye‘s presidential spokesman on Wednesday burdened that his nation is not going to enable the PKK terror group to ‘nest’ in northern Iraq and turn into a risk.
Speaking to Anadolu, İbrahim Kalın drew consideration to the growing presence of the terrorist PKK and emphasised that Türkiye absolutely helps Iraq’s territorial integrity and political unity.
Noting that Türkiye at all times had a constructive angle in relations with Iraq, Kalın stated: “But if the territory of Iraq becomes a place where terrorist organizations are used to threaten our country, we have to take steps.”
“We know that the PKK has a very serious establishment in Sulaymaniyah,” Kalın stated, including that Türkiye is not going to disregard this.
Citing Türkiye’s current determination to shut its airspace to flights to and from Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah airport on April 3-June 3 amid PKK terrorist actions within the area, Kalın stated there could also be extra steps relating to this.
“No matter where the PKK exists, we will never allow it to nest there and become a threat to our country,” he added.
