Türkiye will always remember the solidarity displayed by the EU, the UN and different worldwide organisations after the February 6 earthquakes, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated.

“This conference is another example of how well-grounded the relations between our peoples are,” he stated. 

Noting that the estimated value of the devastation attributable to the earthquakes was round $104 billion, he stated: “It is not possible for a single nation to tackle a crisis of this scale on its own.”

EU pledges $1B 

The European Commission has stated it would help Türkiye with one billion euros ($1.07 billion) to assist with reconstruction. 

Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the EU’s government arm, additionally pledged 108 million euros in humanitarian help for Syria on the opening of the donors’ convention.

Rehabilitating quake victims
