A recent magnitude 5.0 earthquake has hit Türkiye’s southern Hatay province, based on the nation’s catastrophe administration company.

The magnitude 5 tremor hit the Defne district at 1553 GMT (6.53 pm native time) at a depth of 9.76 kilometres (6 miles), based on the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

Hatay Governor Rahmi Dogan mentioned just a few buildings, which had been already broken from the earlier quakes, collapsed.

There had been no accidents or individuals trapped within the particles based on preliminary studies, he added.

On Monday, a magnitude 6.4 quake jolted Hatay, killing six individuals, simply two weeks after highly effective tremblors hit Türkiye’s southern and southeastern area.

At least 43,556 individuals have died in Türkiye as a result of twin earthquakes centred within the southern Kahramanmaras province on February 6. 

Over 13 million individuals in 11 Turkish provinces had been affected.
