Police seize diamond worth $1 million from Istanbul’s Grand Bazar

Istanbul Police Tuesday seized unprocessed uncooked diamonds with a market worth of TL 20 million ($1 million), estimated to be 61.38 carats, throughout an operation within the Grand Bazaar – one of many historic commerce facilities of Istanbul.

According to the preliminary experiences, the Istanbul Police Department and the Department of Combating Financial Crimes acquired a tipoff hinting on the smuggling of diamonds within the historic Grand Bazaar, Istanbul.

Following the investigation, undercover cops began a follow-up across the bazaar on April 12. They detained 4 international nationwide suspects with the initials M.M.D., M.F.M., M.A., and A.A., who had been later recognized as clients and business house owners.

Launching the operation after the judicial determination, the Istanbul Financial Branch Police raided the office.

It was decided that the seized diamond was delivered to Türkiye illegally through Africa, marking it one of the crucial necessary diamond operations within the nation’s historical past.
