Ship carrying over 5,000 tons of humanitarian aid for Gaza sets sail from Türkiye

Ship carrying over 5,000 tons of humanitarian aid for Gaza sets sail from Türkiye

A ship carrying humanitarian support destined for the Gaza Strip set sail from southern Türkiye on Sunday for the Palestinian enclave.

A complete of 5,066 tons of support, together with meals, child care merchandise, sleeping baggage, and gluten-free items, had been loaded onto the ship at Mersin International Port below the steering of the Turkish Red Crescent.

Speaking on the farewell ceremony for the “11th Goodness Ship,” Turkish Red Crescent Deputy Chairman Ramazan Saygılı mentioned the group would ship one other vessel to Gaza sooner or later.

“We are sending the largest tonnage ship we have ever sailed … Türkiye’s aid operation will continue until the last Gazan returns to their home and finds peace,” Saygılı added.

The ship is anticipated to be at sea for about two days because it sails to Egypt’s Al-Arish Port, from which its contents shall be transferred to close by Gaza.

Israel has waged a navy offensive on the Gaza Strip in retaliation for a cross-border assault led by Hamas, which killed about 1,200 folks.

Nearly 34,700 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, the overwhelming majority of whom have been girls and kids, and 78,000 others injured, in line with Palestinian well being authorities.

Nearly seven months into the Israeli conflict, huge swathes of Gaza lay in ruins, pushing 85% of the enclave’s inhabitants into inside displacement amid a crippling blockade of meals, clear water, and drugs, in line with the UN.

Israel stands accused of genocide on the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January mentioned it’s “plausible” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and ordered Tel Aviv to cease such acts and take measures to ensure that humanitarian help is supplied to civilians in Gaza.
