UK police have prevented Greek Cypriot protesters in London from blocking and attacking the automobile of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus [TRNC] President Ersin Tatar, an incident Türkiye instantly condemned.

A bunch of about 50 folks on Wednesday tried to stop Tatar’s entry into King’s College, the place he was going to attend a convention on the Cyprus dispute, in response to the TRNC Presidency.

They had been carrying Greek flags and banners towards Tatar and Turkish Cypriots.

British and Turkish safety guards in entrance of the college constructing dispersed the gang, enabling Tatar’s passage.

In a tv look on Turkish media after the incident, Tatar stated the protesters would have attacked him if there have been no police presence on the college’s entry.

“They can’t tolerate it,” Tatar stated, including the explanation behind the incident was the media protection of his contacts with journalists and lawmakers within the UK, in addition to his speeches.

Meanwhile, Türkiye condemned the incident and expressed help for TRNC chief.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay spoke to the TRNC’s Tatar and conveyed a message of help “on behalf of our President [Recep Tayyip Erdogan], our nation and myself.”

Oktay condemned the incident and stated Türkiye would at all times stand by the president of TRNC in each respect.
