Turkish center equips int’l students with disaster interpreting skills

Gazi University’s Turkish Language Learning Research and Application Center (TÖMER) launched the “Friendly Heart Language (DEGDI)” venture on Monday, in an intention to offer decoding coaching for worldwide college students attending Turkish preparatory programs, with a give attention to fast response in emergency, search and rescue operations.

Professor Nezir Temur, director of the TÖMER, said that the primary aim of the venture is to allow people who’re studying Turkish on the heart to speak and mediate between rescue groups and residents who might be rescued in attainable catastrophe conditions, by translating from many overseas languages, particularly of their mom tongue.

After the deliberate settlement between the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and TÖMER is signed, worldwide college students will obtain coaching on catastrophe administration, search and rescue, and emergency response.

The college students have proven nice curiosity within the venture, as it would result in versatile growth in step with the outputs of this benevolent and help-based venture.

The venture is anticipated to develop with the participation of the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) underneath the auspices of the Turkish Presidency.

Temur maintained that the venture would proceed to broaden with worldwide cooperation after finishing its nationwide processes.
