Turkish Coast Guard nabs 69 irregular migrants, rescues 94 pushed back by Greece

Sixty-nine irregular migrants have been caught Friday by Turkish safety forces, whereas 94 migrants, who have been pushed again into Turkish territorial waters by Greek forces, have been introduced ashore.

In the northwestern province of Edirne, close to the border with Greece, authorities held 53 irregular migrants who had illegally crossed into Türkiye.

Border items nabbed migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Morocco.

Coast Guard boats have been deployed to the area after receiving data that there was a gaggle of immigrants in a rubber boat off the coast of the districts of Bodrum and Marmaris in southwestern Muğla province, in line with an announcement on the web site of the Turkish Coast Guard Command.

Fifty-seven migrants have been caught on the stopped boat.

Another 37 have been rescued in rubber boats off the coast of Ayvalık district in western Balikesir province after being pushed again by Greek forces into Turkish territorial waters.

In a separate operation, 16 migrants, together with Syrian and Palestinian nationals, who stayed in an out-of-use lodge in Muğla’s Marmaris district, have been nabbed by safety forces.

All of the migrants have been despatched to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management after official procedures.
