Villages evacuated due to wildfire in Turkish western province

Villages evacuated due to wildfire in Turkish western province

At least six villages had been evacuated in Türkiye‘s western province of Çanakkale due to wildfires, the Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister stated Tuesday.

“Kayadere, Damyeri, Belen, Ulupınar, Yağcılar, and Kalabaklı, these six villages have been evacuated,” İbrahim Yumaklı advised reporters in Ankara, including that three different villages had been prepared for potential evacuations.

“Fortunately, there is no loss of life so far,” he stated.

The fireplace, particularly in Kepez, is progressing on a tangent to town middle.

Eight planes, 26 helicopters, roughly 180 road sprinklers and development gear, and practically 1,100 personnel are intervening to combat the hearth, he added.

The Çanakkale (Dardanelles) Strait was closed to north-south ship passage due to the hearth which broke out earlier Tuesday and quickly unfold resulting from robust winds.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) stated 4 individuals had been affected by smoke and their therapy is ongoing.
