World Orphans Day: Turkish charity hosts iftar for Syrian orphans

A Turkish charity organized an iftar for orphans within the Azaz district of Aleppo in war-torn Syria on the event of World Orphans Day.

The iftar was organized by the Istanbul-based Damascus Orphans Association, which carries out reduction efforts in Syria for about 200 kids, who had been orphaned by the assaults of the Assad regime and its supporters.

A psychological counselor, Abir Abdulkale, who volunteers within the area informed Anadolu Agency (AA) that they needed to carry collectively Syrian orphans residing in tents at iftar to remind them they weren’t alone.

Participating on the occasion,12-year-old Hedil Mahmud stated: “My father died in Tal Rifaat. I want my father could possibly be with me. I might hug my father like different kids.”

World Orphans Day was declared on the fifth International Conference of nongovernmental organizations of the Islamic World held in Istanbul in 2013 in partnership with the Humanitarian Relief Foundation and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
