Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva despatched his prime international coverage adviser to talk to Russian chief Vladimir Putin about potential peace talks to finish the conflict in Ukraine, CNN Brasil reported on Monday.
“It would be an exaggeration to say the doors are open (to peace talks), but it’s not true to say they are totally closed,” the envoy Celso Amorim informed CNN Brasil in an interview printed on its web site.
Amorim, who was Lula’s international minister from 2003 to 2010, mentioned he met with Putin for an hour on Thursday on the Kremlin as a part of the beforehand unannounced journey.
Two authorities officers informed Reuters that Amorim stopped in Paris on his means again to Brazil, however they offered no particulars of his engagements there.
Brazil’s Foreign Ministry declined to touch upon Amorim’s journey. The president’s workplace didn’t reply to a request for remark.
