The British Museum stated Wednesday that it has sacked a workers member and alerted the police after objects have been found to be lacking, stolen or broken.
They included gold jewellery and gems of semi-precious stones and glass courting from the fifteenth century BC to the nineteenth century AD, stated a press release from the museum, which is considered one of Britain’s largest vacationer points of interest.
“The majority of the items in question were small pieces kept in a storeroom belonging to one of the museum’s collections,” it added.
According to museum officers, the broken and lacking objects have been for tutorial functions and never for public show.
“This is a highly unusual incident,” stated the museum’s director, Hartwig Fischer.
The museum added that unbiased authorized motion led by former trustee Nigel Boardman and Lucy D’Orsi, chief constable of the British Transport Police, is being taken in opposition to the workers member who was fired.
