British police mentioned Tuesday that they had opened an investigation right into a package deal containing uranium that was seized at London’s Heathrow Airport.
The package deal was found by border brokers throughout a routine search on December 29, police mentioned.
The package deal had originated in Pakistan and arrived on a flight from Oman, in keeping with The Sun, which first reported the story.
The uranium was present in a cargo of scrap metallic and investigators have been trying into whether or not it was the results of “poor handling” in Pakistan, the BBC reported.
“I want to reassure the public that the amount of contaminated material was extremely small and has been assessed by experts as posing no threat to the public,” police commander Richard Smith mentioned in a press release to British media.
“Although our investigation remains ongoing, from our inquiries so far, it does not appear to be linked to any direct threat.”
