China renews Taiwan threats as island holds military drills

China has warned international politicians interacting with Taiwan had been “playing with fire” because it renewed threats attacking the self-governing island on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for China’s Taiwan Affairs Office stated the nation was recommitted within the new 12 months to “safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity” and “smashing plots for Taiwan independence” on the self-governing democracy that separated from mainland China in 1949.

“The malicious support for Taiwan independence among anti-China elements in a few foreign countries are a deliberate provocation,” Ma Xiaoguang stated at a biweekly news convention.
