A person in Springfield, Massachusetts, was arrested on suspicion of driving below the affect after he tried to cross off his canine as the driving force.
The man, who has not been recognized, was pulled over by police on Saturday evening after he was clocked driving 52 mph (83.68 kph) in a 30-mile-per-hour zone.
As the officer approached the car, the person rapidly switched locations together with his canine, who was sitting within the passenger seat.
“The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the officer approached and watched the entire process,” Springfield Police Department mentioned on Facebook.
“The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.”
When police requested the person if he had consumed alcohol, he ran away, abandoning each the car and the canine. He was caught about 60 toes (18 meters) from the place the incident started.
The man, who allegedly had excellent warrants, is dealing with fees of suspicion of driving below the affect and resisting arrest.
The canine was given to an acquaintance of the person to maintain whereas he was in jail. The canine doesn’t face any fees and was let go along with only a warning.
“The dog was very cooperative and did not attempt to resist arrest,” police mentioned. “We’re glad that the dog was not hurt and that it was able to find a safe place to stay.”
