First flight for Afghan refugees living in Pakistan arrives in London

The first constitution flight to relocate Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan has arrived in Britain.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the primary flight, carrying 132 Afghans, left the nation for London on Thursday.

The transfer comes as hundreds of people that labored with or for the British authorities in Afghanistan and fled the Taliban are ready for relocation to Britain from Pakistan.

Earlier this month, Parliament heard that hundreds of Afghans who assisted Britain and took refuge in Pakistan with the promise of resettlement in Britain now face being deported to their Taliban-ruled nation on account of a scarcity of housing.

Ministers have acknowledged the delay in relocating those that had labored with the British authorities and armed forces in Afghanistan was due to a scarcity of appropriate lodging.

Pakistan has ordered that each one unregistered Afghan refugees should go away the nation by November 1 or face repatriation.

There are at present two routes underneath which eligible Afghans may be delivered to stay in Britain – the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) and the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (Arap) scheme.

The Ministry of Defence declined to substantiate particulars of the flight.

A spokeswoman stated: “The UK has made an ambitious and generous commitment to help at-risk people in Afghanistan and, so far, we have brought around 24,600 people to safety, including thousands of people eligible for our Afghan schemes.

“We proceed to honour our commitments to convey eligible Afghans to the UK, with new arrivals going instantly into settled lodging the place attainable.”
