Israel was not shocked by U.S. opposition to its resolution to retroactively authorize 9 Jewish settler outposts within the occupied West Bank, a senior Israeli official stated on Monday.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated such unilateral strikes exacerbate tensions and undermine peace prospects.

The senior Israeli official, who declined to be recognized, stated Israel and the United States have disagreed on this difficulty for many years.

“These disagreements did not hurt and will not hurt the strong alliance between Israel and the United States,” the official stated.
