Israelis to be exempted from visa requirement to US by September: Netanyahu

Israelis to be exempted from visa requirement to US by September: Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned Wednesday that Tel Aviv is predicted to hitch the US visa waiver program this September.

“Today, we brought important news to the citizens of Israel. As we promised, the legislative requirements for obtaining a US visa exemption have been successfully completed,” Netanyahu mentioned in an announcement.

He mentioned within the coming months, Israel “will fulfill the additional requirements”.

Israel began the method to meet the necessities for coming into the US visa waiver program a couple of years in the past.

Israel is “expected to enter the list of visa-exempt countries for the USA” by September 2023, Netanyahu mentioned.

His announcement comes amid rigidity in relations between Tel Aviv and Washington over judicial overhaul plans by the Israeli authorities.

US President Joe Biden mentioned he is not going to obtain Netanyahu on the White House quickly, in an indication of US protest in opposition to the proposed judicial reform, which triggered mass protests in Israel over the previous weeks.

On Monday, Netanyahu bowed to stress and introduced a brief halt to the judicial overhaul plans.
