Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated in an interview on Monday that she despatched a letter to European Union leaders calling for fast motion by the bloc to cease boat migrant journeys to Europe.
Speaking a day after a shipwreck that killed greater than 60 migrants off southern Italy, Meloni advised RAI public tv: “the only way to tackle this issue seriously, with humanity, is to stop the departures.”
