Libya’s Tripoli-based Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Thursday rejected the prospect of normalizing relations with Israel days after news broke of a secret assembly between the international locations’ two international ministers.
Last Sunday, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen publicly introduced that he and Libya’s international minister had held a personal assembly in Rome the earlier week, the primary ever between high diplomats from each international locations.
The subsequent day, Dbeibah suspended Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush and launched an investigation into the assembly. It is against the law to normalize ties with Israel below a 1957 legislation in Libya, a robust supporter of Palestinians.
