Moscow: Scholz and Macron not serious about Ukraine talks with Putin

Moscow: Scholz and Macron not serious about Ukraine talks with Putin

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Germany and France of not taking severe steps to provoke a dialogue on Ukraine with Moscow.

The West has to this point made “no serious proposals at all,” Lavrov mentioned on Russian state tv on Wednesday, Russian state news company TASS reported.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron have been “threatening” to name President Vladimir Putin for months, Lavrov mentioned. “But if you want to call, just call – why announce it publicly?”

Relations between Berlin and Moscow have deteriorated for the reason that battle in opposition to Ukraine started. Germany helps Ukraine in its defence with weapons and calls for the withdrawal of Russian troops from there.

In a newspaper interview in May, Scholz mentioned that he needed to renew talks with Putin “in due course,” however didn’t specify a date.
