Russia accuses West of destabilizing G20 talks

The Russian Foreign Ministry criticized the West for “destabilizing” the G20 finance ministers’ assembly in India by trying to pressure a joint assertion on Ukraine.

“We regret that the activities of the G20 continue to be destabilised by the Western collective and used in an anti-Russian way,” the international ministry stated on Saturday.

Moscow accused the United States, the European Union and the G7 nations of getting “disrupted the adoption of collective decisions” by attempting to impose their “diktat” with what they stated was “clear blackmail.”

Their goal had been to impose their interpretation of the Ukraine battle within the joint assertion by way of lobbying and “ultimatums”, stated the ministry assertion.

The ministry referred to as on the West to “renounce its destructive policy as soon as possible, to acknowledge the objective realities of a multipolar world”.

“The G20 must remain an economic forum rather than attempting to encroach upon the security sphere,” it stated.

G20 finance ministers failed Saturday to agree on a joint assertion on the worldwide financial system at talks in India, after China sought to water down references to the Ukraine battle.

Instead, the present G20 president India issued a “chair’s summary” which stated “most members strongly condemned” the battle and that there have been “different assessments of the situation and sanctions” on the two-day assembly in Bengaluru.

A footnote stated two paragraphs within the abstract in regards to the battle, which it stated had been tailored from the G20 Bali Leaders’ Declaration in November, “were agreed to by all member countries except Russia and China.”
