Russian state media web sites broadcasting President Vladimir Putin’s tackle to the nation’s two homes of parliaments on Tuesday suffered an outage throughout his speech.

Reuters journalists in a number of areas had been unable to entry the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) web site or the Smotrim live-streaming platform for intervals in the course of the speech.

A message on the VGTRK web site stated that “technical works were being carried out” whereas the Smotrim web site was not loading.

Shortly earlier than the speech began, state TV channels had broadcast a section on the technical preparations that go into broadcasting the speech, saying the dwell stream can be carried throughout all main Russian TV channels.

The state-run RIA Novosti news company stated the outage was the results of a distributed denial of service (DDoS) assault.

Reuters was unable to independently confirm the explanation for the outages.
