Turkish, Ukrainian presidents discuss extension of Black Sea grain deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the extension of the Black Sea grain deal over a cellphone name on Friday.

“The leaders discussed in detail the extension of the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement during the phone call held at the request of President Zelensky of Ukraine,” the Turkish Communications Directorate stated on Twitter.

During the dialog, Erdoğan emphasised that Türkiye has made “intense efforts” to take care of peace.

Earlier this week, Russia pulled out of the Black Sea grain deal, saying the Russian a part of the settlement was not applied.

The settlement, initially signed in July of final 12 months in Istanbul by Türkiye, the UN, Russia, and Ukraine, was geared toward resuming grain exports from Ukrainian ports which had been halted because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict which started in February 2022.
