The Ukrainian authorities on Tuesday authorized a decision to reconstruct the Kahkovka dam, which was destroyed in an explosion on June 6 that prompted flooding in close by areas.
“The project is designed to complete in two years. In the first stage, we will design all engineering structures (and) prepare the necessary foundation for restoration. The second stage will begin after the de-occupation of the territories where the HPP (Hydroelectric Power Plant) is located. This involves actual construction work,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated throughout a Cabinet assembly within the capital Kyiv that additionally authorized the venture.
Ukraine’s Economy Ministry will likely be in control of the venture coordination, Shmyhal stated, including that the works will likely be overseen by the nation’s nationwide hydropower firm, Ukrhydroenergo.
Both Moscow and Kyiv have blamed one another for finishing up strikes on the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine’s Kherson area on June 6, which prompted the partial destruction of the barrier, leading to flooding of close by areas.
